Passing It On

I'm at Romancing the Blog today talking about passing my love of reading on to my son.

My mother was definitely influential in my reading. She encouraged me and fostered the lurve of books by taking my brother and I to the library on Saturdays. I still get that same rush of excitement whenever I step into a library or a bookstore. Sometimes, though, I think my mother cursed my love of reading. She'd snatch my book and lock me out of the house in the summertime in the hopes I'd get a bit of a tan. I spent our last family vacation together in Myrtle Beach reading Love and War by John Jakes. (I could read the books but not watch the miniseries, a blog for another time, I suppose).

The Combat by Crystal Kauffman

Amidst a cataclysmic war between the Guardians, an ancient sect of gargoyles charged with policing vampirekind, and a maniacal vampire king who intends to enslave humanity for the sinful pleasures of vampires worldwide...

Desperate to locate her missing sister, Gabrielle Langston travels to San Francisco expecting to find Linna in a fanatical Goth community of wannabe blood suckers. Instead Gabrielle discovers real--real!--vampires, sexy gargoyles, and an undead prince intent on claiming her as his bride.

Though it's been over eight hundred years since a vampire killed his young wife, the scars on Davin McCain’s soul still burn deep. He has risked his life for the Guardians for eight centuries, yet never again has he risked his heart. But when he rescues feisty Gabrielle, drugged by the vampires to make her insatiable, Davin is lost to the charms of the pretty, green-eyed human.

Gabrielle's dangerous idea to infiltrate the vampire coven is the only chance the Guardians have to finally locate the vampire’s “Palace,” but Davin realizes while he’s just found the mate he wants by his side for eternity, he could lose her in mere days.

Reckless Behavior by Amanda Young

After six months with his lover, Cody yearns for monogamy. The threesomes he and Dante engage in are fun, but he needs more from the man he loves. Although Cody longs to tell Dante how he feels, he fears love and fidelity are two words missing from his older lover’s vocabulary.

The discovery of a naked man in Dante’s apartment confirms Cody’s worst fears. The cliché Dante uses as an excuse for his betrayal further clouds the issue at hand. Cody doesn’t know whether to trust the word of a man notorious for screwing around, or believe the worst and walk away from love he wants more than anything.

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, male/male sexual practices, ménage (m/m/m).

Support Your Local Library

In a quest to be more diverse with my reading -- or liven up my choices -- I'm participating in a reading challenge for 2009: J. Kaye's Book Blog: Support Your Local Library.

Because I wasn't certain how many library books I'd actually finish, I only signed up for 12 books. I have a tendency to place holds on whatever titles catch my fancy, then am unable to read them all because, imagine that, they're due at the same time! And since most of the books I want to read are new releases, there's restrictions on renewals.....

Anyway

I've already read 12 13 library books, with lots more on the horizon!
