Merry Gentry

I finished A Kiss of Shadows by Laurell K. Hamilton yesterday afternoon. A couple of my friends have read (and raved) about the Anita Blake series but I decided to go with Ms. Meredith Gentry instead. I'm not saying I won't ever get to Anita; Merry just seems more like my cup of tea right now. And what a cup of tea it is....

I've never known such an imaginative writer, with such descriptions and characters. (My library holdings/requests are catching up to my TBR stack which is why I've started Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.) What I really want to do is read some more about Merry, Doyle, Frost, and the entire Unseelie Court! I may have to push Outlander down on my reading list just a bit until I finish (or get caught up) with Merry and her gang.

    Another Merry Fan! HoooBa!
You have NO IDEA how thrilled I am. You are the only person, blog or in person, to have read the book. I've been having conversations with myself about it...well..ok, I'm exagerating...but I've no one to bounce favorite or least favorite thoughts about it with.
SO........Tell,me, Frost or Doyle? Should she end up with one, the other or both????

  2. You'll be happy to learn, Michele, that I put Outlander aside to read A Caress of Twilight, the 2nd Merry Gentry book. I'm halfway through it; loving it so far.

And I can't decide between Frost or Doyle. Can't decide....

  3. Oh goody!
    Did I just say that?
Anyway, I'm glad you are liking it. I was on another blog and we were debating whether or not Anita and/or Merry were a tad slutty for their quantity of bedroom gymnastics. I believe Merry is written in such a way that it is part of the story..its vehicle...its a key componet of the sucession of the unseelie sidhe court. Do you have any problem with accepting her adventures? I mean as you go along, she gets shared by more and more...not that I mind too much. I mean, I read erotic romance ...there's a certain aspect I expect to see, and in Merry Gentry, I don't believe its gratuitous, but integral to the story telling. What's your view?????
I kind of think it's fun to see who's next and what makes one different than the other and what's going to happen when the big O happens. It never seems to be boring! And the earth Does move "grin"...*sigh* should we be so lucky......

  4. I'd take Merry over Anita any day but some of my chaptermates freak out when I say that.

    Enjoy!
