The Book Geek Says: My first ever Blaze. I hate to admit I was disappointed. Do people in California (who I believe are Californian born and bred) say "car park" when they mean "parking lot?" I know Ms. Mayberry is Australian, and this might have been edited in Canada but...sorry, the disappointment is still there.

My husband, who was born in California and has barely traveled anywhere else, much less lived out of state, does not say "car park". Nor do any of my California-native friends.

I have no idea what's a "car park" until you mentioned "parking lot." I think the first term isn't American at all.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think that's why I was so disappointed. There's not a lot of Aussie slang/terms, but there's more than there should be for a book set in Los Angeles (and for characters who have supposedly lived in CA their entire lives).

This born in CA girl always says parking lot or parking garage, as the case may be. I have Coming Undone to read! Recently read Samantha Hunter's Untouched and loved it. Another Blaze I really loved was Jo Leigh's Closer.
