Is there such a portion of the 'chick lit' genre?
Now, there are tons (well, maybe not tons) of "Southern girl goes North" books either on the shelves or in progress: one that comes to mind immediately is Belle in the Big Apple (releasing in 2007); another is Cara Lockwood's Dixieland Sushi.
Which leads to my question of any Southern chick lit books. Comment in the comments.

There's the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris. Okay they're more paranormal southern chick book than southern chick lit, but I love them. =)
ReplyDeleteMine...but they haven't been bought yet. *EEEG*
ReplyDeleteThere are some women's fiction books out there that have that chick lit voice and flair, but I don't think they'd be called chick lits. I kind of think they straddle the line:
QUEEN BEE OF MIMOSA BRANCH
TO DIE FOR (Linda Howard)
SWEET POTATO QUEENS
Susan McBride's Debutante Dropout Mysteries
Those are just off the top of my head. I definitely think there's a market for it. People who aren't from the South or who haven't lived in the South want a peak at how life there is and I personally would love to read more books like that.
Marley = )
I have read the first SWEET POTATO QUEENS book but haven't picked up any of the others.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestions, Marley! I'll have to check them out (and yours too!!)
